Choosey is an Afro-Chicano hip hop artist who grew up in National City and Chula Vista, California. His debut studio album Black Beans (2019), produced by Exile, represented his Afro-Chicano heritage and conveyed themes of ethnic identity, gentrification, and Black-brown unity. The album received positive reviews and was referred to as a "masterpiece" by NBC News and a "breath of fresh air" by HipHopDX.
In this episode, Choosey and I talk about his Black and brown upbringing in San Diego, his passion for creating music and art, and his current artistic endeavors. Connect with Choosey on IG and Twitter @kingchoosey and check out his website kingchoosey.com. And visit his Soundcloud for his OG music!
As a Hella Latin@ listener, you get a free one-month membership to RisOn—an interactive weekly space created by two first-gen Latinos with the intention to mindfully unburden, introspect, connect, and belong.
