Mother, author, poet, speaker, teacher, DJ—this girl does it all. Marina is Mexican- and Native-American, born and raised in the 818 (shoutout to San Fernando Valley). In this episode, she talks about her third-gen Latina experience, becoming a mother at 17, and why her writing is primarily focused on love and grief. The author of, “Soul Investigation” and “Bobby”, Marina encourages her readers to transform their experiences of trauma, love and grief into poetry. When she's not working on her book, she's teaching writing workshops for at-risk teens and young adults in her hometown. Connect with Marina on Twitter and Instagram @morenoxmarina, and check out her website marinaxmoreno.com. Shoutout to RisOn (RisOn.life) for being the first Hella Latin@ sponsor and partner. As a listener, you get access to a free one-month RisOn membership. More details at the end of the episode.
