Nayeli Lopez is a first-generation Salvadoreña-Guatemalteca from the Central Valley. She’s passionate and orgullosa about her Central American roots but at times, she'd ask herself if she was “Latina enough”. In this conversation, we both unpack what that phrase "Latina enough" means. Nayeli also talks about finding more of herself in her culture through representation, education and conversation, and is still learning about herself and her Latinidad everyday. For anyone who's ever questioned their Latinidad or felt underrepresented even in Latin@ spaces, this episode is for you. Connect with Nayeli on IG @_nayeliitzel and find her on LinkedIn. Wednesday Sep 16, 2020
Chris Gueits is a first-generation Cuban-American who has dedicated his life to maximizing human potential, which he does today through his co-founded company, RisOn. Chris and I cover so much in this episode. We talk about everything from his parent's immigration story to his childhood in Miami to playing football at Princeton to creating a life based on happiness and inner peace. It was hard to encapsulate all of that in one title. But I chose this one because learning about Cuba through his experience, through his eyes, was so enlightening. Connect with Chris on IG @1chrisgueits and find him on LinkedIn. If you're looking for an online gym dedicated to your mental, emotional and spiritual well-being, check out RisOn at www.rison.life and find them on IG @Rison.life. Saturday Sep 05, 2020
Saturday Sep 05, 2020
This episode is special and full of healing. I sit down with my brothers Kevin, Enzo, and Patrick Cordova. We may have grown up under the same roof, but our experiences and childhoods were so different. Patrick and I hear from our brothers Kevin and Enzo as they dive deep into their upbringing in Honduras and their journey to San Diego. And for the first time, 12 years after the fact, we talk openly about our experience with homelessness and how it turned each of our worlds upside down.
